PHOTOFISSION CROSS-SECTION OF PLUTONIUM-238, PLUTONIUM-240 AND PLUTONIUM-242 IN THE ENERGY REGION FROM 5 TO 10 MeV

Abstract

The photofission cross-sections for 238Pu, 240Pu and 242Pu in energy region of 5-10 MeV are measured at the bremsstrahlung beams of the SSC RF IPPE microtron with energy step of 50 keV in a subbarrier range and with step of 100 keV in upper energy region. The measurements were performed by relative method with using the photofission cross-section of 238U in case of 238Pu and photofission cross-section of 237Np in case of 240Pu and 242Pu as a cross-section-standard. The photofission cross-section of 237Np as a standard is used firstly. The comparison of the cross-section of 240Pu when it is measured with 238U-standard and with 237Np-standard is realised. The table-data for the ratio of yields of photofission reaction for nuclei 238Pu, 240Pu and 242Pu to yield for nuclei-standards and for the photofission cross-sections are presented. The results of the present research are compared with data obtained in other measurements.
