Abstract

The level density and radiative strength functions which accurately reproduce the experimental intensity of two-step cascades after thermal neutron capture and the total radiative widths of the compound states were applied to calculate the total γ-ray spectra from the (n,γ) reaction. In some cases, analysis showed far better agreement with experiment and gave insight into possible ways in which these parameters need to be corrected for further improvement of calculation accuracy for the cascade γ-decay of heavy nuclei.

Keywords
two-step cascades, thermal neutron, radiative strength functions, radiative widths
