Abstract
The software system BARS-UNK is used for the neutronics calculation of propulsion reactor core cycle in KCNTET, National Research Centre “Kurchatov Institute”. The BARS code is designed for the detailed full-scale calculations of the core cycle taking into account burnup, stationary xenon poisoning, thermal hydraulic feedback, refueling of channels, reactor power change and changes in the controls’ positions. The UNK code is designed for the neutronics calculations of a heterogeneous (or homogeneous) cell or nuclear reactor assembly taking into consideration a fine energy structure of cross-sections in the region of resolved resonances, obtaining group macroscopic cross-sections, effective boundary conditions matrices and other constants with the aim of their subsequent use in the full-scale reactor core calculation. The paper provides the results of the first stage of BARS-UNK software system verification: the analysis of isotopic composition change using the UNK code at the level of reactor cells containing high enrichment fuel and burnable poison rods (BPR).
Key words
