Abstract

The article presents the results of the scientific-technical conference "Thermophysics of the new generation of reactors (Thermophysics–2016)", held from 12 to 14 October 2016, the IPPE supported by the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research and the Government of the Kaluga Region. It was attended by 157 experts from 21 organizations, including 30 young scientists. At the plenary and breakout sessions 96 reports were presented. The plenary reports were considered strategic issues of nuclear power and the actual thermal challenges of developing a new generation of reactors. In the breakout sessions were presented the new results, which reflect the current state of the work, the problems and challenges of upcoming research on a wide range of thermal problems in the field of fluid dynamics, heat transfer in the reactor facilities, safety, physical chemistry and heat transfer technology. In general, the reports of the conference reflects the most current scientific and technological challenges in the development and validation of new scientific and technical, technological and design decisions, as well as the safety of the new generation of reactors, assigned to the scientific community of the Federal Target Program "Nuclear Power Technologies of New Generation for the period 2010-2015's and up to 2020". In order to support youth organizing committee has provided favorable conditions for participation in the conference of graduate students and university students, organized a contest of reports of young authors. Press service of the IPPE actively covered the preparation and holding of the conference "Thermophysics–2016" in the media. Forty-first Scientific and Technical Conference "Thermophysics of the new generation of reactors (Thermophysics–2016)" was held at the IPPE, held at a high scientific and organizational level. According to the results of the conference, we can conclude that Russia continues knitting mother-leading position in the use of liquid metal as coolant of nuclear power plants.
