Abstract

In VVER-1000 type reactors, during physical start-up and at the beginning of each fuel campaign, the efficiency of the emergency protection (EP) of the reactor is measured by resetting all the control and protection systems using a reactimeter that processes the signal from the ionization chamber (IC) according to the formula inverse solution of the equation of kinetics. The calculated and measured efficiency of the EP of the reactor core does not match. This is a known fact for entering a large negative reactivity. The article proposes a method for calculating the efficiency of the EP of a VVER-1000 reactor, which includes the ratio of the IC currents before and after the release of the control and protection systems, which is determined from measurements or by calculation. At the same time, the use of the ratio of the measured IC currents in this calculation method can be considered as the determination of the EP efficiency by measuring. Taking into account the properties of the high-reactivity fast introduction process, the design features of the power unit with a VVER-1000 reactor, and the location of the IC when determining the efficiency of the EP, it is shown that with one reset of the control and protection system controls, it is possible to determine the EP efficiency and the EP efficiency, at least without one rod. Comparison of the performed results of calculations with measurements carried out during the physical start-up of power unit No. 6 of the Novovoronezh NPP is given.
