Abstract

A description is presented, historical data on the creation of a scientific school in thermophysics of nu-clear power plants of the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation-IPPE, biographical data on the life and work of the founders of the scientific school are given.
The formation of a scientific school was associated with the development in our country and in the world of the program for the creation of nuclear power plants (NPP), as well as with the solution of new problems for thermonuclear and electronuclear plants and neutron-generating targets.
Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.I. Subbotin was the founder of the scientific school.
The scientists who made the most significant contribution to the development of scientific areas, the leaders of the scientific school were Gabrianovich B.N., Arnoldov M.N., Zhukov A.V., Kirillov P.L., Kozlov F.A., Martynov P.N., Orlov Yu.I., Fedotovsky B.C.
The primary tasks solved by the IPPE team during the formation of the scientific school, the conditions for the formation of its personnel potential and experimental base, the current state of these issues are considered. The main results of the activity of the scientific school from its inception to the present on heat and mass transfer and hydrodynamics of coolants (liquid metals, water), physical chemistry and technology of liquid metal coolants for nuclear power plants for various purposes (nuclear power plants, nuclear submarines, space), development of codes, innovative projects, non-nuclear technologies for the use of liquid metals, heat pipes, systematization and generalization of thermophysical data are outlined. The main directions of the work of the scientific school at the present stage and in the future are discussed.
