Abstract

The work is devoted to studying the influence of nuclear data uncertainties on the results of neutronic calculations of the main characteristics of the PIK reactor with PIK-2 fuel assemblies. The effective fraction of delayed neutrons was calculated using the ENDF/B-7.0 evaluated nuclear data library in comparison with the calculation result using the ENDF/B-6.8 library for the 235U nucleus. Calculations were performed for two core configurations: a launch core consisting of 12 hexagonal fuel assemblies, as well as for a full load of the core with a new PIK-2 fuel assemblies containing gadolinium burnable absorbers. The influence of the position of the reactor control elements, as well as the composition of the water in the reflector on the effective fraction of delayed neutrons, were studied. For the PIK reactor, it was investigated which nuclear data give the greatest uncertainty in the calculated effective neutron multiplication factor of the reactor. The effect of replacing the library of evaluated nuclear data used for calculations from ENDF/B-7.0 to ROSFOND-2010 on the effective neutron multiplication factor was studied. The influence of the choice of library for gadolinium isotopes on the calculated multiplication factor is assessed. Using the sensitivity coefficients calculated in the work, the influence of variations in the elemental composition and geometry of PIK-2 fuel elements on the effective neutron multiplication factor of the reactor was studied. The influence of the composition of heavy water in the reactor reflector on the multiplication factor was assessed.
