Abstract

The article investigates the accumulation of metastable silver in the technological systems of a nuclear power plant equipped with a VVER-1200 reactor. The results of spectrometric monitoring of personnel-access areas using a gamma imager are considered in the article. Measurements were carried out in the sampling box room during primary circuit sampling, as well as in the radiation monitoring area and the automated chemical control room for the steam generator blowdown water. Metastable silver was detected in a sampling box connected to the low-pressure emergency injection system, and along the entire length of the continuous sampling lines of the primary circuit automated chemical control system. The study also includes radiometric and spectrometric analyses of water samples, along with calculations of gamma-emitting radionuclide activity in primary circuit coolant collected from July 2023 to May 2025. The data indicate that during reactor maintenance, the frequency of metastable silver detection nearly doubles. The results of the analysis of the dependence of the Ag-110m activity in the samples of the first circuit coolant on the reactor plant power at the time of sampling are presented.
